gigil

Gigil is a solo work created by Alyssa Favero with Justin Calvadores.

The piece draws from the perpetual current of the ocean. Rebirth, personal rituals, and transforming identities. With a variety of improvisational forms Gigil moves between the non-human and human embodiment; wearing pleasers that extend the performer's limbs, shedding, reshaping. Feeling the weight of silence, the safety in queer club spaces, and the confrontation of queerness in family dynamics. Gigil invites the audience to witness the unlayering of multiplicity within the diaspora experience.
